Transferring SIM to new phone

Hello,

I’m having an issue which I can’t seem to find in the FAQ or Suggestions.

I bought a SIM only contract back in 2018 for my unlocked Galaxy A3 2017. I have recently bought an unlocked S10 5G from EE with no SIM/contract, the intention being to transfer this SIM in to my new phone and carry on with the same number.

Unfortunately, when I put the SIM in my new phone it either isn’t recognised or some wires are crossed as there is no signal and I cannot make/receive texts. Putting the SIM back in my old phone let’s it work again.

Is there any settings I need to update on the iD side when changing phone? Or will I need to order a new SIM? I really would like to keep my old number if possible.

Thanks

Hi @IDluke,

If our SIM card works in one phone but not another then it’s likely to be device issue. Is the new phone definitely unlocked from EE?

Also, it could have been blocked by the original owner (if it hasn’t been sold as new) if they reported it as lost/stolen so we would recommend contacting the seller to ask for further advice.
