iD Community News and Updates - June 2021

Welcome back to the iD Community news and updates blog, and, as ever, a big hello to our newest Community members! There are quite a few newcomers this month, but more on that in a bit.

Summer’s almost here, the rain is finally easing, and we can’t wait to show you the exciting things iD Mobile have planned over the coming months. In the meantime, what’s changed on the iD Community recently?

Check the Archives:

You might notice we’ve had a bit of a Spring clean on the iD Community over the past month. We’re on a constant quest to make the Community easier for you to use, navigate and enjoy. That means finding the relevant help you need, faster.

On the dropdown menu at the top of the page, you’ll see ‘Community Archive’ underneath My iD. That’s where we’ll be placing older posts, inactive posts and resolved queries. These are filtered from the results when you use the search bar, so you can find a topic quickly without needing to scroll too much. It also means what you do see will contain more up-to-date info. Of course, you can still access any of these topics and questions whenever you like - just click on ‘Community Archive’. Simple!

The May Recap:

We love to see new Community members start their iD Superhero journey and get stuck in. This month, there are nearly 1,400 of you! This is the place to find all your help and support, but it’s great for all things iD Mobile-related, and even just a good chinwag. The iD Community has around 45,000 members, so don’t be afraid to ask a question or post a topic and get chatting!

It’s been pretty busy here recently – over 400 topics and questions posted, and over 220 ‘likes’ given. Nice work! Posting topics and being awarded likes will help fast track your way to Legend status. It makes our day when we see content that helps others, and over 670 positive content helpfulness votes have been given over the course of May. That’s the smiley face system you see at the bottom of each post. If you see a post you find helpful, don’t forget to give it an upvote! It may help other members, too.

The most popular Community categories over the past month were…

Ask A Question

Device & Phone Support

Pay As You Go

Ask a Question: There have been a number of questions throughout the month on the process of switching to iD Mobile from another network. This is easy. All you need to do is request your PAC or STAC code from your old network, and download the iD Mobile app. You’ll need to use the iD Mobile number on your new SIM to register. Once you’re in, you can enter your PAC or STAC by tapping on Services, then either choosing ‘Keep my number’ or ‘Submit a STAC’.

Remember, whether you’re switching to or from iD Mobile, PAC and STAC codes are valid for only 30 days. That means you’ll need to submit your code to the network you’re switching to within that time, or you’ll have to request a new one.

Device & Phone Support: We see a few of our Community members have posted about being unable to text shortened numbers, or phone ‘090’ lines. These are premium numbers, and so you may find that calling or texting them is blocked, but it’s easy to fix.

Open the iD Mobile app, tap on Services, and scroll down to ‘Premium’. Then, toggle the switch so it’s set to ‘On’. It might be a little late to vote in Eurovision, but it means, but you’ll be ready, phone in hand, next time!

Pay As You Go: Finally, there’s been a few questions about Pay as you go SIM cards in regards to Inclusive Roaming. Now that a number of tourist destinations are being added to the UK Government’s ‘green list’, you may be planning that long overdue getaway.

Well, if you’ve got an iD Mobile Pay as you go SIM, don’t panic! You can use your inclusive data and Add-ons just as you would at home. That’s ideal for using Google Maps to navigate to a landmark or find that recommended restaurant. All you need to do is toggle the Roaming switch to ‘On’ in the iD Mobile app. Happy travels!
