Data allowance

October 27 my monthly data allowance was 4gb.

Today November 4th i had a text saying my data usage was 100% and I will now be charged £10.24 for every 100mb used.

My dashboard monthly allowance is showing i have 2.2 of 4gb.

I am confused.

Can anyone help?

The app/account always shows the correct allowance.

 

This is happening due to 3 reasons:

 

  1. You have purchased a Data Add-on
  2. You are on a Double Data/Bonus data plan
  3. You have a Data Boost with remaining allowances

If you purchased an add-on, the text will always be sent as the text won’t take into account your add-on data. 

Thus the trigger message advising of charges is still sent

 

If you’re on a double data plan, it’s the same as above. The text won’t take into account the bonus data, hence you receive the text. In this instance, your extra data will only be shown in the app and you can carry on using this as normal. We’d recommend monitoring the app as once the bonus data is used, you’ll incur out of plan charges up to the cap (unless a £0.00 cap is set-up).

 

If you’ve got Data Boost data remaining, this is a pot of one-off data that lasts 36-months or until fully used. The text again, only accounts for monthly data, not any data from the plan.

 

As always, monitor the app/account and set-up a spend cap if required.
