I am locked out of my account and need to set up a new password the problem is a code is sent to my device but I need to take the SIM card out and put into an alternative device I’m 64 and struggle with the timing as the code is only available for a very short time I’m finding the process so difficult can anyone help

The method mentioned is the quickest way to obtain your code I’m afraid, the codes expire soon after being generated so they need to be used as soon as possible.
