Keeping my old number - recent port

I have received a text message saying my old number has been ported in and it worked for one or two people I contacted but now whenever I try and contact somebody it comes up with the number I was given by ID mobile when I switched. I don’t know how to sort this out. I don’t really care which number I have as long as it works for everybody.

Hi there @cheaton 

Are you using an iPhone currently?  If so, then it may be that iMessage within your phone is hanging on to the wrong number by mistake.

Could you go in to your settings and try disabling iMessage and then checking within Settings > Profile > … that your correct number is in there?

 

If the above does not work, you could try:

  1. Turning your phone off, removing the SIM.
  2. Turning the phone on (with no SIM inserted).  Leave on for a few mins.
  3. Turn the phone off again, re-insert SIM.  Turn back on.

That should hopefully get your phone to refresh the information it’s holding on your phone and the SIM.
