Welcome back to the iD Mobile Community’s monthly news and updates!

After the excitement in reaching our big milestone of 50,000 Community members in last month’s edition, you’d be forgiven for thinking things would be a bit slower this month. But as we said, we’re just getting started.

From making the Community the instinctive go-to place for all your Help and Support content, awesome competitions that fire up lively chats, to making sure you guys are the first to know about our best deals, we’ve got your back. So, what’s new in November?

The numbers…

In time honoured Community News and Updates fashion, let’s begin with the numbers this month.  Since our last update, over 2,000 new Community members have joined the ranks and are currently working their way up from Civilian to Rookie, and onwards. The sky’s the limit!

Elsewhere, it’s been a pretty active month on the iD Community. Over 260 topics created by Community members including questions and discussions and over 1,200 replies given. In total, nearly 1,500 posts made. You guys are the best!

To top it all, the iD Community has had 365 positive content helpfulness scores awarded this month. We love it when members find the content on here helpful and engaging. After all, that’s what the iD Community is all about. So, a big thank you to everyone that’s got involved!

Upcoming Fresh Community Newsletter:

We may be quite a way off Spring, but it’s still a great time to get some tidying done! And where else to start but the iD Community newsletter?

We’re working on a complete redesign of the Community newsletter, we’ve gone back to the drawing board and designed a completely new layout, matched with better colours and all-round different ‘style’.

We are aiming for a January launch, so make sure to look out for the new build and be sure to let us know what you think, by starting a conversation on the Community.

It’s going to look bolder, brighter, and better than before, and we hope you guys think so too!

Easier Navigation:

The Community may be a separate website to the main iD Mobile site, but that doesn’t mean that flicking between the two should be a multi-step process. Whether you see a feature piece about a phone and want to check it out on iD Mobile, or browsing our 5G page and want to learn about the perks of faster data, it should feel super-easy to find the page you’re looking for.

That’s why we’ve added the very same footer to the bottom of the Community that you’ll see on the iD Mobile website. You’ll see all the same links to pages across the site, so you can navigate to where you need in no more than a few clicks. And of course, if you’ve got a burning question that you need to ask our fantastic Community, the link is right there. Simple!

The most popular category last month was… Ask a Question

You guys threw us a bit of a curveball last month with the most popular category! Ask a Question is as broad and eclectic as it gets, so we thought we’d answer a couple of standout questions that we’ve seen recently.

Do I need a new SIM for 5G?

We’ve seen this question crop up a few times! All our SIMs are 5G enabled, so you’ll just need an iD Mobile 5G approved phone to make the most of it! However, if the SIM you’ve been using is over two years old, it’s likely to only be 3G and 4G compatible, so you’ll need to request a replacement SIM

If you’ve been using a 4G phone with an iD SIM less than two years old, you should be able to use the exact same SIM with your new 5G phone.

Why can’t I text into my favourite radio station?

Most radio stations have a shortcode (6-digit) number to text into for shout-outs and song requests. Be aware though, when you text a shortcode number or call an 090 number using your iD Mobile phone, these are premium service numbers and are charged at the premium rate.

Premium service numbers are usually disabled automatically on your iD Mobile account, but it’s easy to change that. To turn it on, log into the iD app, head to My Services, then Premium.

It’s also worth noting that we’ve recently been instructed by Three to remove certain shortcodes from our premium service, which unfortunately includes BBC Radio 1 and Radio 5 Live. To get in touch with these stations, we recommend calling an alternative number or sending a DM over Twitter.

October Community Newsletter:

In-case you didn’t get a chance to see last month’s content, here’s our featured articles from October:

Not receiving the iD Newsletter? Well, simply login to the iD Mobile app, and go to the 'My Account' page, select 'Edit preferences' on the 'Keep me in the loop' tile, then select 'Email' and save your settings. Now you’ll be up to date with all the latest news, articles and competitions.

That's it for the November’s Community update! As ever, we’ll keep on posting new updates each month to let you know everything that’s going on around here. If there's more Community-related info you'd like to see from these monthly updates, let us know in the comments below.

Have a great November!
