Every year brings a new iPhone line-up and with them, new innovations that make the experience that much better. Whether it’s ground-breaking camera tech like Cinematic Mode, ever-smarter AI or an all-new iOS operating system, the latest iPhones can do things that simply weren’t possible even just a few years ago. So, how does Apple’s iPhone line-up compare to previous generations?

iPhone SE3 (2022) vs iPhone SE2 (2020)

Great iPhone features, with a much smaller price tag – the entry-level iPhone SE is well loved for good reason. But how does the newest 2022 version compare to the 2020 SE2?

Both the 2nd and 3rd generation iPhone SEs have the same look and feel – they’re both a bit bigger than the original SE, but still very compact by today’s phone standards. The main difference in the newer 3rd gen is the durable ceramic shield glass and aluminium frame.

Spec-wise, you’re going from an A13 chip, to the A15, which means way more power. The SE3 also has up to two hours more battery, and better graphics for your games and videos. And let’s not forget that fast 5G connection either.

iPhone 12 vs iPhone XR and XS

Even now, the iPhone XR and XS are great phones. We still love their OLED screens, good cameras, and reliable processors. (And Apple are supporting software upgrades for the foreseeable).

But if you want 5G – and who doesn’t want lightning-fast internet? – then the iPhone 12 pulls ahead. The iPhone 12 also has a brilliant Super Retina XDR display that makes everything look crisp and bright, as well as the A14 Bionic chip that lets you get more done.

When it comes to cameras, the iPhone 12 storms ahead – it has larger sensors to let in more light, which means you’ll get much better low-light shots. Last but not least, the iPhone 12 came out in a load more colour options, so if green, blue or red are a bit of you, the iPhone 12 is your best bet.

iPhone 13 vs iPhone 11

Compared to the iPhone 11 from two years ago, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini offer several big tech leaps. The A15 Bionic chip outperforms every processor that came before on things like general performance, graphics, and battery, making the iPhone 13 even more reliable.

The iPhone 13 may have the same screen size as the iPhone 11, but it’s more compact, has narrower borders and a smaller notch. Like the best TVs, it also has an OLED display for those realistic colours.

And the cameras? The iPhone 13 has a similar camera setup when you compare the specs (they both have dual 12 MP cameras on the back, and another on the front) but the 13 has way more tech packed in. You get better low-light shots, as well as cool features like HDR video.

Need space? We all use more phone storage than we did just two years ago. That’s why Apple have doubled the minimum storage capacity to 128GB – more than enough for movies, apps, music, and photos.
