Following a bereavement in the family, we would like to change a mobile contract to a PAYG sim so we can continue to keep the phone number.

I’d suggest starting this process by looking at the community article “Notifying us of a bereavement”.
Hi
Unfortunately, we cant convert a Pay Monthly line to Pay As You Go outside of the first 30 days, and we’re also not able to keep an account active in the name of a deceased person.
However, if you contact our Facebook, Twitter or Live Chat teams and provide them with a copy of the death certificate, they’ll be able to provide you with a PAC which will allow you to transfer the number to a Pay As You Go SIM with another network.
