Billed Despite never receiving product and cancelling

I took a new mobile contract out through yourselves via Carphone warehouse. Long story short I never even received the product before carphone warehouse recalled the product back to them. I immediately rang CW and told them to cancel the contract they told me they would do so via an online chat and mobile conversation and it would take so many days for the warehouse to process… this was all around 25th March 2021. This morning I have woken up to the first payment of £1.42 coming out of my bank account. PLEASE can I get some justification I do not have the phone Carphone warehouse said they cancelled and now payments have started - I’m really unimpressed with the service
