Cancel a Sim without access to the Mobile Phone

Hi, I need to cancel a Sim only contract but I no longer have access to the phone and can therefore not set up an account (as it asks for an SMS code which is sent to the phone which I cannot pick up!).

Frustratingly the monthly charge is just £6 but it seems to be taking up an enormous amount of time for something that should be quite a simple task. 

Please advise how i can sort out this problem.
