keeping old number

Hi guys. I’ve recently got a new contract with iD and I’d like to keep my old number. I have my pac code and have entered it along with other details into the appropriate form on the website. I have followed all instructions but have not received any confirmation. Is it normal to hear nothing and for the numbers to just switch or should I have had a confirmation email/message.
