Problem with porting my number - Wrong number on texts

I recently took out a new SIM only deal with ID mobile. I requested a PAC code from my previous provider on 14th August and on 17th August it was all successfully transferred or so I thought.

When I text anyone it is still showing the original phone number provided by ID mobile (the one I don’t want) rather than the number I had with my previous provider which I wanted to keep.

The correct number is showing on my app and online account details and yet a different one shows to other people when I send a text.

Please can you help me?

Hello @Sedgwick 

Are you using an iPhone by any chance? the issue is down to iMessage or iOS not updating the number.

Try the following and let me know how you get on.

 

1)    Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2)    Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3)    Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct. 
4)    If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5)    Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6)    Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under “Start new conversations from:”.
