Both my son and I are both with ID Mobile. When I send a text to him I get the response ‘The message will be delivered once the recipient is online, You can also send as an SMS/MMS instead’

What phone is your son using?
Are you trying to message him as a standard text message? Or are you messaging through a service like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Line Chat, etc?
Thanks for your response Kevin. I am using a Moto G8 plus and my son is using a Moto G5S Plus. I am texting him using a standard text message. Regards.

Are you able to potentially get a screenshot of what you’re seeing
From the sounds of it. Your phone is trying to send a message through an online method (to save you from using an SMS text). Thus why you’re being asked if you want to send the message as SMS/ MMS afterward.
In your phone settings you might need to ask it to prioritise sending messages the normal way (SMS) as opposed to some sort of Motorola to Motorola messaging service that would use WiFi/ Mobile data.
