Receiving calls from people saying I called them even though I did not

Hello,

After being with iD mobile for over 9 months, for the first time today I received calls from two different people stating that I called them but they missed me. I most definitely have not called either of those numbers as I have only called one person today and they are in my phone’s contact list.

It looks like some pranksters/ spammers are spoofing numbers.

Is there anything iD mobile (or Three who they piggyback off) can do to stop this?

No…

 

Number spoofing is common place and isn’t just a mobile network issue, landline numbers are also spoofed regularly. I can make outbound calls right now and use whatever number I want, been able to do it since 2006!

 

There are “things” going on in the background to try and prevent this but it’s a world wide issue, not a UK specific one. This makes it so much harder to tackle.
