SIM not working in new Huawei P30 Pro

I bought a new Huawei P30 Pro phone from ID a week ago, with a new ID Mobile SIM contract. The SIM did not work with the new phone, and after two live chats with the ID support team a replacement was sent to me.

This arrived yesterday, and has been activated successfully and registered to my old number. However, the Huawei phone still does not recognise it (the error message at the top of the home screen reads “Emergency calls only” and shows a SIM with an exclamation mark in it). 

The SIM works perfectly in my old phone (Galaxy S7). I have followed all the ID guidance on SIM errors, and also tried resetting the Network Connections on the phone. None of this works.

I can only assume that there is a fault in the new phone, which works perfectly in every other way. 

Any ideas please?

This is sorted now, after doing a hard reset on the phone.
