sim only upgrade

I upgraded my account from a £5 SIM only deal to a £6 SIM only deal as recommended on my account page. I thought this would all just be done online, but I've had emails saying my new SIM card is in the post. When I've looked on my account, it says that it has already been upgraded with extra minutes and data but I haven't received the SIM card yet. If I receive one, do I need to activate it? And if I do need to, can I keep my existing number. When I've changed my plan previously, I've not had to have a new SIM card. Thanks.

You can carry on using your existing sim card, this will have the new tariff on the sim. We always do send out a spare sim card when upgrading, however, it‘s up to you, if you want to carry on using the existing sim, just dispose of the new sim when it arrives.
