Unlocking an old phone

Does anyone know how to actually get hold of ID to unlock a phone and before you ask yes it is locked and when the new sim is inserted it does say no network, despite the new sim being registered. 

I have an old locked phone from ID that I want to give to my son. Why is it so difficult

Hi, I need to unlock my phone which is currently linked to iD mobile. It’s a Huawei P10 Lite. Can you help?

We have never locked Huawei handsets. Is there a particular error message you’re receiving? What SIM are you trying to use in it?

Hi Will, I’ll try it with the new sim, thanks. I hadn’t realised that the Huawei phones aren’t locked. Will report back if I have any issues. Thanks Heidi
