It all depends of the deal that you are going to choose. Some of the offers are with "no upfront" and some have upfront. For example I can upgrade to Galaxy J6 2018 with 500mb of data and pay £19.99 upfront and then £11.99 a month. I can also upgrade to exactly the same phone with 1GB of Data with zero upfront and £13.99 a month.
When you are eligible to upgrade you can check all deals prepared for you in ID Mobile App or my.idmobile.co.uk
