0844 numbers

Today I dialled an 0844 number. I was on the call for 9 minutes. I was charged 4.99. The call advised me it would charge 7p per minute but I now see if seems to charge 40p a minute even though it is not deemed premium. Can anyone explain why I have been charged more? Even at 40p it should only be £3.60.

Hello @Rozi,

Calls to 084 and 087 numbers are charged an iD Access charge of 45p per minute plus the charge for calling that number (that's the 7p they advised you of).

Thank you for the information. The link you provided does not tell me this. There are no 45p rates listed there.

it seems this cost is genuinely hidden.

but thank you for clarifying. The maths now at least adds up.

This information when clicking the relevant section.

Since your calls relate to 084/087 numbers, you'd click "Non-Geographic to reveal this charge.

It's also at the bottom of the page.
