I upgraded from a £5/m contract which ran 7th - 6th to a £22.99/m contract on 3rd December. My December bill charged me £25.36. Why is this please? I presumed a credit would show on my Jan statement but it didn’t.
Hi there
Does the bill give you the dates for the periods as to which you’ve been charged.
When plan changes like that happen, the bill will often be pro-rata.
So it should highlight that you’ve maybe paid for a little longer of a term than usual (4 ½ weeks perhaps in this case).
You’d never be charged for 2 concurrent plans against one number though.
So the breakdown is as follows.
October 2019 bill: 7/10 - 6/11 £5
November 2019 bill: 7/11 - 6/12 £5
December 2019 bill: 3/12 - 6/12 66p credit
3/12 - 6/1 £26.02 - 66p credit = £25.36 debit
January 2020 bill: 7/1 - 6/2 £22.99
Then has continued at £22.99 ever since.
why did they not credit the 66p and then charge the £22.99 from 3/12 to 2/1? I don’t understand the point of the extra charge.
Hey
Based upon the “3/12 - 6/1 £26.02 - 66p credit = £25.36 debit” part of your message, the amount was calculated that way as it covers you from 3rd December until 6th January which is longer than the standard monthly period (usually 30/31 days) so you have been charged for having the new plan for those extra days.
