direct debit date

I’ve taken out a new contract phone and paid an up front fee which i thought was for my 1st months bill, I’ve now found out that I’m due my first monthly payment 2 weeks after taking out the contract, but i am confused because on my id app it states that my next bill is due by August. i have changed the date on which the direct debit mandate will come out, will these change take effect immediately or will they try to take the payment out for the 04/07/2020
