If you are using standard SMS service when you limit is 160 characters per message but when you use any kind of special character like Ł, Ć, Č or anything like that (including Chinese) it will get reduced to 70 characters. So If you use special characters and send 160 long message, then three of them will be taken from your allowances instead of one. When your character limit will exceed 402 it will be send as MMS which is charged outside of your allowances.
When you texting using iMessage, WhatsApp or Messenger then you have nothing to worry about :-)
Kind Regards
