At iD Mobile, we pride ourselves in keeping your calls, messages and on-the-go browsing affordable. And the iD Mobile app puts all the control in your hands. Read on to find out how…

Viewing Your Bill

First off, we make it easy to look at your monthly bills whenever you need to. Just head to the billing page to see your recent statements. And we’ll always drop you a text when your latest bill is ready to view, that way you can see a full breakdown of charges the moment they come through. You can also view our ‘Billing’ article here.

Quick tip: Take a look at what the extra charges are for, and how frequently you’re being charged for the same things across different billing periods. If it’s something like out-of-plan calls or data, this could mean that your plan allowances aren’t cutting it for you. If that’s the case, you could benefit from add-ons or, utilising our bill capping feature or even think about changing your plan. All of this can be viewed on the iD App, or check out this helpful plan features article.

Paying Your Bill

Paying your monthly iD Mobile bill is simple, and there are a couple of ways to do it.

The best way to pay is via Direct Debit. If you already have it set up, there’s nothing you need to do. We’ll take the total bill amount from your account 14 days after your bill arrives. You can see what date this will be in the iD Mobile app.

And if you don’t have Direct Debit set up but would like to, you can do that in the iD app too. Just go to the My Billing page, then tap ‘Manage my Direct Debit’ and follow the instructions.

Bill Capping

Do you find yourself occasionally going over your monthly allowance? Bill capping is the easiest way to make sure your out-of-plan charges don’t get out of control. Simply set your limit, and you won’t be charged any more than what you’re willing to spend. You can select anything from £0 to your credit limit, keeping you in full control of your monthly bill.

Add-ons and other admin charges aren’t included within your Bill Cap, but any other chargeable usages like MMS, premium text messages, or if you happen to run out of data and start to use chargeable data, are controlled by your Bill Cap.

Go for something sensible, like £1. That way, you’ve got a little credit for emergencies should you ever run out of minutes or data. Handy.

Add-ons

If you frequently run out of data or minutes before the end of the month, an Add-on could be the best option. These give you the extra minutes or data you need to see you through to the next billing period, and they work out cheaper than standard out-of-plan charges. Just log into the iD Mobile app, go to ‘Add-ons’, click on ‘Buy’ and choose the right one for you.

If you need to buy Add-ons each month though, it’s even cheaper in the long run to go with a SIM deal that includes enough data and minutes in your allowance. That way, you’ll never need to make last minute purchases to get through the month.

Top tip: Don’t use MMS!

We love sending and receiving funny GIFs and photos from friends and family, but there’s no need to pay for each message. Every iD Mobile plan comes with unlimited standard texts (SMS), but multimedia messages (those with photos, GIFs or emoticons) are charged at 30p.

The best way to send images and videos is over an internet-based service, like WhatsApp, iMessage, Skype, or Facebook Messenger. These platforms are free to use and sharing media clips doesn’t cost a thing on any of them. Better yet, connect to your Wi-Fi network before you send the message – that way, you won’t use up any of your data allowance either.

Those are a few of the ways that you can keep costs down using the iD Mobile app. Still need a hand? Chat with fellow Community members and Superheroes below, or head to our Billing page to find all the info you need.
