No Service on either new sim or old

activated sim on new handset contract yesterday and was told by message i would get a text to say activation complete.  its now 25 hours since that message and i’ve had no service on either old or new sim all day (old one was with id mobile too).  have tried everything mentioned - coverage is fine and cleaning sim doesn’t seem to make any difference.  ive switched off and on too.  what else can i do?  will the text come through with no service?  I don’t want to leave the house so I cant be contacted
