Hey @Spam

I was actually working on troubleshooting tutorial regarding exactly this situation. I will copy and paste here of what I got so far and hopefully you will find it helpful.

I would like to give you a rundown of potential solutions when you have a problem of sending MMS or Text Message that exceeds the number of characters therefore will be sent as MMS. MMS are chargeable messages and will not use your allowances. Let's get started...

First and most common would be to check if you have set up a Cap on your contract. Messages with pictures are charged outside of your allowances as I mentioned above, therefore Cap cannot be set to £0 for it to work. To check your cap limit simply follow this instructions https://youtu.be/Hx37iZzSrtA

Second option is to check APN settings on your phone to see if MMS is set up correctly. Just follow these steps below

If your Phone isn't downloading the iD Mobile network settings automatically, here's how to add them manually.

For iPhone:

  1. Tap Settings > Mobile/Cellular Data.

  2. Tap Mobile/Cellular Data Options.

  3. Tap Mobile/Cellular Data Network.

  4. MMS settings:

  • APN - id

  • MMSC - http://mms.um.idmobile.co.uk:10021/mmsc

  • MMS Proxy - mms.idmobile.co.uk:8799

  • MMS Max Message Size - 307200

For Android (Based on Samsung Galaxy):

  1. Tap Settings > Connections

  2. Tap Mobile Networks

  3. Tap Access Point Names

  4. Tap “iD internet” > MMS settings will be combined with Internet settings.

  5. Scroll down to which these options:

  • APN - id

  • MMSC - http://mms.um.idmobile.co.uk:10021/mmsc

  • MMS Proxy - mms.idmobile.co.uk

  • MMS Port - 8799

  • APN Type - default, supl, mms, xcap

Third option would be the size of the picture as the MMS have size limits which I believe is 300kb per message.. If your phone won’t reduce the size automatically try reducing the size of your picture manually and then send it again. You can use an App called "Image Size" that can be downloaded from the Appstore for iPhones or Photo Compress & Resize for Android Phones.

This link https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/call-charges will explain everything about charges for messages that will be sent as MMS. Bare in mind that standard SMS has limit of 160 characters which will be reduced to 70 characters if you use special characters like ó, ç or ý. If you message will exceed 4 x 160 or 4 x 70 it will be sent as MMS which is a chargeable service.

Kind Regards

Gregor
