Can’t ring or text from iphone XR

My son has an iPhone XR that I pay for. He got it in November but has not been able to ring or text from it in that time. Can someone please respond as I’m paying for something that isn’t fit for purpose?

That’s odd.

How many bars of coverage show in the SIM?

Was this a brand new contract you purchased?

Have you tried the iD SIM card in another phone?

It shows 2-3 bars coverage.

It is a new phone and SIM

It has not been tried in another phone

Hi @Ross Gibbons,

As there are bars of signal, there should be nothing coverage related to stop it from working.

Are there enough allowances available? If on an unlimited plan then let us know.
Is it possible to place the SIM card into another phone to see if that works? We’ll then know the fault could be device-related.

Also, on the iPhone, try going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will refresh the phone's connection to our network.

It is an unlimited text and calls plan.

We have put the SIM in another phone and it works, so must be the hand set. 
 

We have done the reset you mentioned but that did not work.

Please arrange for replacement hand set.
