Question

Messages not sending

Messages to one number are not sending - I have a rotating circle against the messages.  I can receive from this number, and can send and receive to/from other numbers.  This number is not blocked by myself or by the other number.

Hello @Eleanor987,

That’s odd.

Are you on an iPhone or an Android device?

Are you able to call the number fine?

Mohammed

It is an Android, and I have no problem calling the number.

Hi @Eleanor987,

Which handset are you using?

Does the issue still happen after restarting the phone?

Ryan

I am using a Samsung A20.

It makes no difference if I power off and restart.

Hi @Eleanor987,

Do you know if the one number you’re trying to text is an iPhone? If so, are you aware of the recipient having issues getting texts from other numbers?

Will

No, it is my husband's phone and he has no problems sending text to me or any other numbers.  His phone is a Samsung, similar to mine.

What messaging app are you using @Eleanor987?

e.g. Samsung, Google etc...

It is the Messages Samsung app that was pre-installed.

some further information is that this problem only started after June - it was OK up to then, and I am not aware of any changes that I have made.

Navigate to: Messages > Three dots > Settings > Chat settings

Is “Rich Communications settings” set to On or Off? If On, try turning it Off. If it’s already off, try turning it On.

EDIT:

If you’re not using Google messages then make sure that your number isn’t registered to use Google’s RCS by entering your number on the following page:

https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

Yes, it shows that number

I tried the Google ‘disable’ page but received the message that ‘chat features cannot be turned off for this device or phone number.  Contact your carrier’

Good! That means Google RCS isn't enabled on Google's side. Did you try the enable disable Samsung RCS I mentioned in my previous post?

Yes, but unfortunately it made no difference

@Eleanor987 ,

That is strange.

Are you able to text fine when you put the SIM inside a different handset?

Kash

Thanks for all your replies.  I removed one of my two SIM cards and all now seems OK.
