Does anybody know if ID Mobile handsets are locked to the ID Mobile/Three network?

Three no longer lock their handset to their network according to this page:

https://www.three.co.uk/Support/Device_Unlock

Given that the telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has ruled that BT, its mobile subsidiary EE, Tesco Mobile and Vodafone will have to stop selling mobiles that work only on their network from December 2021 to make it easier for customers to switch providers got me wondering where ID Mobile stand on the subject?

Hi @WelshPaul,

Before 2017, iPhones used on our network would be locked to ourselves, but we’d always remove the lock when asked. Still to this day, we get customers from waaaay back asking us to unlock iPhones sold before 2017, and we’re always happy to help with that in a timely manner.

Post 2017, no handset, iPhone or otherwise, should become locked to iD Mobile.

Hope this helps,

Will
