At 14:14 BST I got a call on my mobile from +49 168 61275759 claiming to be from ‘National crime squad’ (or similar) saying that my number had been implicated in serious crime so my national insurance number was going to cut off urgently unless I pressed 1.  The voice was male, posh English, with a note of urgency.

I did not press 1.  I have since blocked the number.

Hi @RCJ,

Thank you for letting us know, blocking the number is the right thing to have done.

@RCJ, you could have had some fun pressing 1.

Usually you’re routed through to an Indian call centre where they be reading from a script.

Your challenge is then to keep them talking for a long possible, without letting-on you ‘re wise to their scam.

Thanks but I have preferred ways of having fun.
