phone unable to make / receive international texts- therefore facetime/ imessage dont work properly

Hi. I recently got a new iPhone 12 and moved my number over from ee to id using a PAC code.

The error I am getting is that my iMessages are coming from my email rather than my number and I am unable to use FaceTime.

unfortunately I have been in isolation for the last week (which coincided with my number getting moved over) so I have been unable to see if the phone works correctly when I am out the house and away from wifi and so on.

I have had lengthy web chats with ID and phone calls with apple and neither could rectify the issue.

I have gone through the process of turning off iMessages, FaceTime, resetting phone etc etc on multiple occasions.
nothing so far has worked.

has anyone else experienced this and been able to rectify it??

thanks

Hello Susan,

Usually, once you port your number on an iPhone, you need to manually update the number in iMessage.

Can you try doing this to see if it helps:

1)    Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2)    Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3)    Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4)    If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5)    Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6)    Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under “Start new conversations from:”.
