Question

porting not worked


I moved to iD a week ago now. I had my number ported etc. Gave all the code, was “completed” on Tuesday. 
however, I can’t receive or send text messages. iMessage is fine though. 
I have followed all the advice that has already been given (turning off iMessage/taking out SIM card) and still not working. Very frustrating!!!

We are sorry to hear this. Have you tried putting your sim in another phone to see if it works? Please can you also try the following:

1)    Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2)    Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3)    Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct. 
4)    If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5)    Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6)    Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under “Start new conversations from:”. 

 

It should fix the issue as this is caused by iOS not detecting your new number change following a port.

I’ve literally said in my post that I’ve already done that. 
I’ve put my sim in my old phone and that doesn’t work either.

Hello @Pipt,

The above advice wasn’t just to turn Off iMessage but to update the number in the account.

You advised “(turning off iMessage/taking out SIM card)” but didn’t mention if you had checked the number was correct.

Are you switching from an Android device to an iMessage?
