I recently bought a Pixel 4a 5G direct from Google. I have tried to activate Wifi calling but within Call settings it says “Call over mobile network”. Does this mean that wifi calling is not active and if so, how do I activate it please?

Hi @NeilJD,

The Google 4a 5G version is on our WiFi calling compatible list so it should be working. Is the option for Wi-Fi calling missing completely? You’ll need to go to the Phone app and then press the menu button to find the settings. From there, press Calls and then Wi-Fi Calling should be present.

Thanks Ryan. I have removed and reinserted the SIM card and that seems to have fixed the problem. The menu still says “Call over mobile network”. However, if I turn on aeroplane mode and then turn wifi on and connect to a wifi network, the phone allows me to make wifi calls.

Hi @NeilJD,

I’m glad to hear that it’s now working. 🙂 The settings showing “Call over mobile network” is fine and Wi-Fi calling should kick in whenever the phone feels like it is a better option.
