ID mobile for expats

Dear iD Mobile community,

I've been trying to buy the iD Pay Monthly SIM online, but the online shop won't let me go through. I'm a foreigner who just moved to the UK for studies, so I don't have a 3+ years previous address in the UK that the checkout form requires, nor do I (yet) have a national insurance number or bank account. Are all of these obligatory for the monthly sim deal?

Hi Sara.

Unfortunately without a UK bank account, making a purchase with ID is impossible. You normally set up a Direct Debit when you take a contract. ID does a credit check on your card if you are ellegible, and then proceeds with your contract. All of these are impossible without a British Bank Account, as it sort of acts as your identification when taking out a sim contract. I recommend you use a Pay-as-you-go sim instead
