Question

Activating my new SIM

Having never been with ID before, I purchased a SIM card from a Carphone Warehouse shop the other day in hope to test the signal before signing on for a plan.

Upon trying the chip, I became aware that the SIM sold to me was meant to be a replacement chip for someone already on ID and hence didn't come with a new phone number. I've tried contacting IDs live chat and phone number, both of which were useless since I don't have an ID number. Anyone know how I should pursue getting the SIM activated with a new number?

Hi @Ethd,

Did you mean to purchase a Pay As You Go SIM/monthly contract SIM from their store?

If you have bought a blank SIM card (they cost £5 and sold only as a replacement to existing iD customers) then you will need to make a new purchase for a PAYG SIM or a monthly contract SIM as we wouldn’t be able to set the account up for you here using just that blank SIM card.

If you’re unsure though, let us know and we can check the purchase to see what has been bought.
