According to https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/international-and-roaming-charges it'll cost me as a pay monthly user 19p/minute to call a german mobile phone, but only 6p/minute for a PAYG user. How strange that it's more expensive for a pay monthly user and not less. Anyone know why?

thanks

Hello @simonides,

PAYG and PAYM are 2 different types of plans.

The out of plan rates can differ for these.

For example, for PAYG it's 3p per minute, 2p per text and 1p per MB but the rates for out of plan minutes, texts and data for PAYM will be different.

This is just because they are not the same plans.

Whilst PAYM plans will be able to get monthly rates with inclusive minutes, texts and data at a set rate, PAYG plans require top-ups and the bundles that you can get from these top-ups can vary.

There's benefits of each plan and you could say that the rates of PAYG being cheaper in some destinations may also be a benefit.

Since PAYG SIM's don't require a credit check you can always order a PAYG SIM and use this for international rates if you find this cheaper and switch back to your PAYM SIM when you're not using international calls/texts.
