4G will certainly run for a fair few years yet. 5G is due to be officially available to the public in around 2020, with phones like the Galaxy S10 released recently being future proof and ready for this update.

If you look at 3G, or even H+ or GPRS, these are still active today, and they were released pre 2010.

4G will remain active for a long while yet, so you have nothing to worry about. 🙂

Remember how long it took to even get 4g off the ground? Well it'll take about that long for 5g to get up and running. Though i've been looking forward to 5g ever since my lecturer told me about it in uni in 2012, it'll be fassssst.

Yeah, it is meant to be something like 20x faster than 4G, which is insane.

If iD mobile use “Three’s network” and Three are already installing masts and 5G works already works in several UK cities with them, why can’t iD mobile offer it? When they’re just piggy-backing?

Hi @Riordanpett,

I’m sure we’ll be able to at some point in the future, we just don’t know when or if it’s currently in the works.
