Do I need to use the new SIM you sent?

I upgraded my plan via the app it’s now showing on my account with this extra data allowance which is fine but I have just received a new SIM card do I have to replace my original sim in my phone?
I don’t know what number is allocated to this new sim and I am happy as I am with original sim.
