I have been given an iPhone 8 Plus which says its network provider is iD but when I try to use my iD sim it says it needs the network to unlock it. I have tried using another sim too, still on iD, but get the same message. Is there a way to resolve this? Thank you!

When you enter your iD sim inside the phone and it asks for a network unlock code, then this would mean the phone is locked to another network. We would advise contacting the original owner of the iPhone 8 you have been given to find out which network they had purchased the phone from and contact them to unlock it or provide you with the network unlock code.
