Do ID or in fact anyone, do a prepaid sim, need it for my grandsons watch. This watch does Geo Fence etc. I don’t need or want a monthly contract. It may never get used. Just want a GPS sim that can be topped up when necessary.

Cheers

Hi there @chrispl0

I can’t say I’m familiar with the exact watch you’re referring to.  However most phones and apps that use GPS do so through using mobile data (mobile internet).

We do have “Pay as You Go SIM’s which might fit the needs https://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/plans/pay-as-you-go/sim-only though generally speaking our Pay Monthly SIM’s give better value for data per month if the watch does turn out to use a fair bit.

Either way.  Pay as You Go SIM’s have no contract at all, and the majority of our Pay Monthly SIM-only deals are 30-day rolling contracts which you can easily cancel by speaking to us here if it turned out you weren’t going to need it.

The Pay Monthly SIM’s can be cancelled within 14-days without a charge too if it turns out that it’s incompatible or overkill for what’s needed too.

Hi Kevin

Many thanks for getting back to me.

I’m not 100% sure which version it is, it’s one of these 2.

Both myself and my partner are with ID so obviously we contacted you first.

he doesn’t need a monthly contract just enough for emergency situations. It would be trial and  error for a while.

So the pay as you go option sounds about right, do you get a phone number with it.

Not used to these packages, hence all the stupid questions.

Kindest Regards

Chris

Hello again @chrispl0

With all of our SIM’s you’d get a mobile number attached to the SIM yes (regardless of if you’ll actually need that for traditional phone purposes).
The Pay As You Go option should work out fine we’d imagine, though it’s difficult to say how much data that watch may need.
If it turned out to require one of the cheaper pay-monthly packages though, (that had more data on offer) you can always look into that down the line I guess.

If you have any further questions, just let us know.
