Hi @DD13
As a test, are you able to switch on flight mode and try using Wi-Fi calling that way?
-Lauren
Hi, no, that didn’t work. My wife has today upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro and now has the same problem! Can call out using WhatsApp, but not the phone app. Turn off WiFi calling, and it’s all fine.
I’m probably not to best one when it comes to offering advice regarding iPhones (Android myself).
But the provisioning of WiFi calling comes from iD Mobile. And there’s a good chance both iPhones have recently updated to iOS 18. If they haven’t it might be worth updating them anyway.
So what I would suggest is that if you’re able to you could pop down to your local Currys store, as it would be a quicker process, and ask for two replacement SIMs. They’re free.
Then using the iD app or online portal activate the new SIM’s on each phone.
To activate them you need to select Plan, then SIM & phone management and Activate a replacement SIM. From there note the first 8 numbers are already filled out, fill out the remaining numbers and then click on the Activate your SIM.
I would then wait around 30 mins (or until both phones show no service) and then turn both phones off, eject the SIMs, swap in the new ones and switch the phones back on. Then see if WiFi calling works again
Hi @DD13,
Please let us know how you get on with the information that @Daz_S has provided.
Hopefully it should resolve the issue.
Kash
Thanks @Daz_S. Not sure when I’ll be able to get to Currys, but when I got my new phone, I updated it to the latest version of iOS, and got a new eSIM from ID, and followed their instructions, so it should all be set up correctly. I can live without WiFi. Calling for now, and will get a new sim at some point and see if that works.
Hi @DD13,
I hope that you get this resolved.
If you require further assistance, please get back to us.

No problem @DD13
If you used the eSIM first and then updated the phones then maybe this was the trigger point for the WiFi calling issue. And if this was the case there’d be no harm in requesting 2 more eSIMs post iOS update. You can request eSIMs (as I’m sure you know) via live chat.
(the only other thing to note is that iD prefer their SIMs/eSIMs to be in SIM slot 1 on the phone)
@Daz_S @Kash,
I’d updated the phone before I requested the eSIM, and then followed the instructions. Looking on other forums, WiFi calling is a mobile provider service, so it’s an ID mobile problem, not an iPhone problem. Very annoying as I have really weak signal at the back of the house, and used to have no problem with calls prior to this issue.
Hi @DD13
Okay, are you sure the Wi-Fi network being used is strong/consistent enough to support a Wi-Fi call?
A replacement SIM (physical or eSIM) may still be worth a try.
Tom
@Tom it’s been fine the last few years. And how would a different Sim or eSim change that?
Hi @DD13
Unless you’ve changed something on your side, you’re insistent it isn’t on your side, it’s worth trying a replacement SIM card.

The only other non iD possibility is the router. To rule this out you could try connecting the phone only to the 2.4GHz WiFi via the router and then see if this improves the WiFi calling. Having said that some routers now merge 2.4 and 5GHz under one wifi name, but again some routers permit turning off one or the other.
I am in the same boat. My iPhone 14 Pro and my wife’s 15 can’t call on WiFi. We have to deselect WiFi Calling and WiFi to make calls on mobile data. I’ve changed both SIMs. Same story. Apple are investigating. Sky are adamant that the broadband is fine. I had a friend making WiFi calls from my home earlier today so I believe them.
With WiFi on, outbound calls silently go through - they ring at the receiver’s end, but there is no indication on our phones. They don’t connect.
With all the diagnostics and testing, I have to assume it’s an ID Mobile issue. Not sure how to deal with them as it’s very difficult to speak to someone. I’d appreciate some guidance on how to tackle this. TIA.

You could try raising this directly with iD via their socials
Tag @iD Mobile on Facebook / @iD_Mobile_UK on X
Or via live chat (tomorrow now)
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat
(its a typing based chat, but after filling out the details required if you type talk to person it should bypass their automated chat bot
Also, just out of interest. If you toggle airplane mode to on and then turn the WiFi toggle back on (with WiFi calling still enabled) do the calls go through correctly?
(this disables the mobile data side of the phone but retains the WiFi only and thus the WiFi calling still works)
I solved the problem by changing provider! My wife is still on ID for now, and WiFi calling still doesn’t work for her. Our kids have got old iPhones on ID, and WiFi calling does work for them. Go figure!
Now the right thing to do here is say “darling you take my working phone and I’ll use your non WiFi calling phone”, oh and “2 sugars love”
But just keep telling her yours still doesn’t work!
(seriously enjoy your new provider!)

Tried that, thanks. No difference. I will look at changing my carrier. I will look at your suggestions for contacting ID support. Thank you for the information.
Well that’s a shame.
Let us know how you get on Russell
Not managed to contact ID Support as yet, but I have done a lot of diagnostics. Friends can make wifi calls on our home network, one of who is also with ID Mobile! My phone (16 Pro Max) works perfectly on a friend’s wifi network too. Not managed to test my wife’s yet - that’s tomorrow’s job - but she can still only make calls with wifi deselected and she is in mobile coverage. Same for me at home. Expecting a callback from Apple tomorrow. They've been running tests on my wife’s phone.
All this really kicked off when I set up a new Apple Account for her. Since then it’s been a nightmare. May just be a coincidence or I’m wondering if its a software issue with between our phones and the Sky Max hub.
I’ll keep you posted.
Hi @RussellK
Thanks for posting to the thread.
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues.
Please can you let us know how the call back goes?
Thanks,
Nat

If the WiFi calling on your iP16 Pro Max works on another router this does kinda point to a phone and (your) router setting/issue, so not necessarily an iD created problem. Also as you’ve said your friends iD phone works on your connection which again adds to this. What phone does your friend have and what router?
Another thing to rule out the iD SIM would be to toggle WiFi calling on, then flight/airplane mode the phone and then toggle WiFi back on to see if this permits a WiFi call - it should as the SIM is taken out of the equation
I’ve not tinkered with a Sky router for many years but does this router give your devices a fixed internal IP address? Sounds silly but what happens if you simply power cycle the router (power cycling is posh for switching the router off at the mains/switch and switching back on - this can clear cached device connections).
