If I upgrade from contract sim to contract phone will a credit check be done?
Hi @Leelee
Yes, I am pretty sure that credit check will be made as minium threshold required for acceptance is a little bit more lenient for contract without a handset therefore ID needs to assess if you meet financial criteria to upgrade your contract to a higher value as well as protect their customers again identity fraud.

Hey @Leelee ,
Just to correct on what@Hikari has advised above,
Upgrading from a SIM-only plan to a handset does not require a credit check.
When you take out a SIM-only plan, a credit check would be run for this.
We would then build a payment profile if you're making payments on time etc and after 6-months you'll be eligible for an upgrade to a handset contract.
By my knowledge, we'd use this profile to work out which handset you would be eligible for based on the original credit check and your payment history.
So staying with us and upgrading is beneficial as you don't need a second credit check.
If however, you apply for a new contract, then a credit check would be run on this.
Upgrades = no
New connections = yes
