Upgraded phone, put in sim card but icon now shows no service?

Hi @Navigator Charles,

Sometimes when upgrading, your existing SIM card remains active, so would you be able to test your old SIM card in your new phone to see if this still has a connection?

The problem was that I moved my SIM card from my iPhone 6 to my iPhone 6S. The SIM card which had worked fine in the iPhone 6 was not accepted in the iPhone 6S, which I got without a SIM card.
In order to keep a phone available, I moved the SIM back into the iPhone 6 and it works fine in that handset.
What I want to know is how do I get my SIM card to work properly in my iPhone 6S?
Do I need another SIM card?
