Hi my son's eligible for an upgrade his contract ends at the end of November,I'm looking to give him his new phone on his birthday in mid December.
What is the best way to go ahead with the upgrade but let the existing phone run till mid December so he doesn't know I've purchased the new phone as a present?.
The contract is in my name and I deal with the account....

The confirmation of the upgrade will be sent via SMS to the phone number and there is no way that we can prevent this from happening I'm afraid.
