When should I activate my new SIM card to avoid being charged twice?

been sent a new sim card as i am going to a sim only plan, my current plan ends on 17th august , do i wait till then to activate my new sim card as i dont want to be paying for 2 plans? and will id automaticlly cancel my old contract on the 17th august/

Hello @ep77,

If you’ve ordered a brand new SIM-only plan, this will become active when dispatched.

So you’re already paying for 2 plans.

It’s not possible to transfer the iD number from one plan to another, so your number will also be lost when cancelling the old plan.

 

If however, you upgraded the old contract onto a SIM-only plan (which you can do from your My Account/My iD app in the last 20-days), you’ll simply be moved to a SIM-only plan, keep your number and only pay for 1 contract.
