What does Inclusive Roaming let you do?
Inclusive Roaming lets you use your phone in 50 destinations throughout the EU, EEA and beyond. The minutes, texts and data you use simply come out of your remaining monthly allowances. A few exceptions apply, and you’ll find details of these in the questions below.
What are the 50 Inclusive Roaming destinations?
Inclusive Roaming covers 50 destinations. We’ve split them into 2 bands because slightly different rules apply to each:
Band 1: Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Romania, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Vatican City.
Band 2: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Macedonia, Kazakhstan
Where can I call and text with my allowances?
When you’re in any Inclusive Roaming destination, you can use your allowances to call or text the UK, or the same destination you’re in.
And there’s an added bonus if you’re in a Band 1 destination – you’ll also be able to use your allowances to call or text any other Band 1 destination.
What happens if I run out of an allowance when I’m roaming?
If you're in one of our 50 Inclusive Roaming destinations and use an allowance you’ve run out of, the following charges will apply:
If you're in a Band 1 destination and text or call the UK, the same destination you're in, or another Band 1 destination, you'll be charged standard UK out-of-plan rates. If you text or call any other destination, you'll be charged the same rate as if you made that call or sent that text from the UK.
If you're in a Band 2 destination and text or call the UK or the same destination you're in, you'll be charged standard UK out-of-plan rates. If you text or call any other destination, international rates will apply.
Can I use an add-on for Inclusive Roaming?
Yes, you can! But remember that add-ons get used after your allowance runs out, and not before. So it’s worth waiting until just before you run out of an allowance before you buy one.
If I check the iD Mobile app when I’m roaming, will I use up data?
No. You can check the iD Mobile app abroad as many times as you want without using up any of your data.
You say that ‘fair usage’ and ‘open data’ policies apply to Inclusive Roaming. What’s all that about?
The fair usage policy has been designed to prevent the Inclusive Roaming feature from being misused. The open data policy is to protect the jaw-dropping value that iD offers. Here’s how each one works:
Fair usage policy.
We understand that sometimes you'll want to roam for a few weeks at a time. That's absolutely fine. But if you roam more than you use your phone at home (we mean in the UK) over a 4-month period, we might think you’re permanently roaming. If so, we'll take the following action:
First of all, we'll send you a text reminding you of the fair usage policy. If you don't change your usage behaviour to comply with it, we'll also ask you to provide some sort of proof that you have strong ties to the UK, like a UK bill or bank statement.
If you don’t provide any proof of having strong ties to the UK, and you continue to roam in the EU more than you use your plan in the UK, we'll apply a surcharge to your EU roaming usage. When we do this we'll send you another text message - to make you're aware of the situation, and give you a second chance to stop roaming and avoid charges.
The surcharges that will be applied to your account if you exceed our fair usage limits are:
• 3.2p per minute
• 1p per text
• 0.59p per MB
Open data policy.
The open data policy applies to selected plans only. To see if your plan is affected, head to the bottom of the fair usage and open data policy webpage, and answer a couple of questions from the drop-down box.
Done that? Good. If you’ve found out that our open data policy it doesn’t apply to your plan, you don’t need to read any further.
If the open data policy DOES apply to your plan, you’ll have an EU data roaming threshold – in other words, the maximum data allowance that you can use for roaming. If you exceed this more than once, you’ll incur a data roaming surcharge of 0.59p per MB of data. But before that happens, you'll receive texts from us when you reach 80% and 100% of the threshold, to make you aware of the situation and give you a chance to change your usage behaviour.
