Move from monthly plan to Pay as you go

Hi, I recently just got a 1 month rolling contract but decided I don't really use my phone often enough to keep paying monthly for the data which I don't use. I would like to end this monthly contract but I would like to stay with iD as a pay as you go customer. Is there any way I can just end the monthly plan and use my sim as a normal top up pay as you go, or do I need to order a brand new PAYG sim and convert my number over? Thanks
