iDMobile Website Homepage not opening (even via other ISPs for the connection) and service seems to be down/crawling along

That seems like a showstopper bug for them to not be bothered fixing it (with urgency). I’ve tried logging on with my phone and this laptop (which was just factory reset yesterday) today had its first foray onto (well at least attempt to) the iDMobile website so it cant be cookies or web browser history related because there wasnt any there in the first place). My phone gives exactly the same error.I wonder why iDMobile staff aren’t commenting - especially with regard to the extremely slow speeds this afternoon and evening in my area. The ongoing Three fault has been there for over a month and it seems to be getting worse, rather than better. Is there light at the end of the tunnel or is it a train heading in my direction?

Well good luck then. In terms of where I found my SIM Only contract, it was on a time limited Black Friday promo but I’m sure if you start here and browse, you’ll eventually find plenty of 30 day contracts https://www.idmobile.co.uk/

No a SIM only contract is still a contract but the one I’m on (and there are many other similar ones) is a 30 day rolling contract. This means that the longest you’ll be forced to pay for if you leave without notice, is only 30 days of usage.Again (as you’ve not acknowledged my previous comment) it’s well worth double checking in advance for any service issues in your postcode area on the Three website. Three don't seem to be very quick at fixing problems (at least in the Scottish city where I live).

You can vary the amount you top up on PAYG as well (eg if you’re going make a call not covered by your free allowance). iDMobile do offer 30 Day rolling contracts as well (what I’m on) so the longest you’re ever committed to staying with them on this type of contract is 30 days (after giving them notice if you want to leave). Its not as if you have to sign up for a year or more when contracted to them (although that option is available too if you want it). It’s important to carefully check for service outages/disruption in your area though because the Scottish city where I live has had (known) problems with its 4G coverage since before I signed up with them with a black Friday promotion and these problems are still ongoing - effectively it means I need to rely on a 3G signal where I live in the centre of the city. The id Mobile Coverage checker still has my postcode down as having ‘Excellent’ 4G coverage - which is definitely NOT the case for the last few months.

Using my Sim in a Cellular Data Capable Windows Laptop - problems arise

An update to the case - Ive found that this morning my laptop (for a while) was showing as having connected to the 3 network with my idMobile SIM in it but that soon reverted back to showing idMobile. When it was showing 3 I filled in the APN settings for the three network but now its back to idMobile these are the APN settings I’ve assigned - do they look correct (esp the IP Type)Windows 10 Pro Cellular ConnectionIts interesting that even though its again showing just one 4G signal bar, it now does have a connection (albeit very slow) and I’m using it to make this post. This morning I noticed that the value beside id changed from LTE to try other types of 3G connections - several of which got 4 bars (and in my experience with Android devices here, always resulted in faster overall connections). When the network was automatically trying those options, even though there was a connection/throughput at the time (because I was loading up various webpages, underneath the connection type, it

MANY thanks for your reply @Mohammed - it's much appreciated. If nothing can be done to restrict my SIM/Phone no/account to just a 3 G connection, what can be done to correct the fake 4G/LTE 'connections' that I occasional do get which result in me being stuck with no effective actual connection - it says I'm connected with 4G but any speedtests or attemp to use bandwidth will fail with no actual throughput possible. Of concern, when this occurs, the network does NOT Automatically fall back to a 3G connection - it leaves me stuck with a non-working connection. This happens across all my devices if I don't restrict it to 3G or less (where I can).

Thanks for your further speedy reply @andewhite Although I used to work as a computer technician many years ago, this is beyond my level of experience so I will indeed liaise with iD. I'm really surprised that the configuration options for the WWAN modem/module don't allow such a 'limiting' selection (like both my Android Phone and Tablet do allow. Years ago I remember modems could also be limited with strings/variables in various settings boxes but this one doesn't give such a choice.

Many thanks for your swift reply @andewhite I had a bit of a nosey at the NETSH commands and although I saw mention of lte, I saw nothing telling me how to limit my connection just to 3G or below - maybe idMobile staff can do this from there end?It’ll mean that when I go to places with much stronger reception, I still only get 3G at best but its worth that sacrifice to at least get a working connection. I would have thought if there network connects at 4G then realises its a really weak connection with no throughput, it’d revert back to 3G - ie it seems like something weird is going on with how id’s network is behaving by staying stuck on a useless 4G ‘connection’.

VoLTE on Pixel 3

If smaller networks realised a bit of effort to make their network work more fully with a wider range of VoLTE compatible devices, they'd attract more customers. Here's a screenshot showing VoLTE working with my Pixel 3XL. Thanks for taking the time to at least reply Mohammed. It doesn't answer my questions about WHY and unfortunately (for ID) my money will go to other networks. I really hope that if the phone manufacturers are expected to contribute towards the cost of such network support, nothing is offered by Google as it should be up to the NETWORKS to attract us as customers without any manufacturer 'incentives'.

Thanks for taking the time to provide a reply Mohammed. Although it doesn't answer my questions regarding why other 'customised ROM' Android phones are already supported yet 'generic Android' Pixels aren't at least you took the time to reply. If anyone at ID would care to actually answer this question I'd very much appreciated. Theres no need to apologise for not providing a more favourable reply because it was actually an explanation of WHY that I was seeking. I suspect (that in the absence of any other explanation) it all boils down to supporting which phones will earn the company the most profit. As there's now more 'mainstream' devices available in the 3A series, hopefully the higher rate of adoption will influence the views of network management. Unfortunately (for ID) my money will be going to the other network(s) until such time as ID decides to support this technology more widely, including on Google phones.

Pixel 3 xl wifi calling and volte

I too have a Pixel 3 XL which is more than capable of handling VoLTE calls as long as the network supports it. Currently I'm with another network that doesn't offer VoLTE but I work in an area with minimal (but present) 4G signal reception so I'm strongly seeking to move to this technology. Im scratching my head wondering why the Google Pixel 3 range isn't yet supported. As it's the most Androidish of all phones and has plenty of power without complicated operating system customisations to take account of, I really don't understand why this wasn't one of the first Android phones to be supported. It should be just like the 'standardised' iPhones, that the phone which is in many ways, the Google Android standard/equivalent should be top of the list. Sseveral people with Pixel 3 series phones have now been asking here for this feature so please can someone from ID tell us what the holdup is? Seriously, I'm sure if we had more of an understanding of what's involved from the telcos side o

VoLTE on Pixel 3

I've seen other requests for support of VoLTE on the Google Pixel 3 XL (what I have) and I want to change to a network that fully supports this feature on my phone. I want to use it in parts of the Scottish Highlands in areas with very poor (but present) 4G signal strength. The Pixel range is as Androidish as you can get so why are you supporting this technology with phones using modified Android eg Samsung before the Pixel 3?
