SIM card network code?

As my recent phone, an Iphone, broke I decided to switch to a sony phone. Upon moving my SIM card into the sony phone, i was met with an alert saying that i needed a SIM card network code, and as I am with ID i decided here would be the best place to ask. Any advice would be fully appreciated, thanks.
