Locked out of iphone 6, forgotten password

After resetting the password, my iphone 6 will no longer accept my password despite me typing in the correct one. It keeps saying, Iphone is disabled please try again in 5 minutes. I have read online that the only way to get past this is by resetting the phone using iTunes, however this says that you will loose all your data by doing this. Does anyone know how I can get round this without loosing my data ? Thanks any help appreciated.
