Should I buy a data add on or change my pay monthly plan?

I have a £10 a month pay monthly phone plan with 500mb of data but I want more data. I was thinking about either changing my plan to have 1gb of data and costs £12 a month or buying a 10gb add on for £30 that lasts a year. I'm not sure which one to get though.
